Hello Sergei,

I am now using Frenzy 1.0 extended on one of my PC's as a live-cd. It suits me great because the HDD just died on me...

I wanted to post a word of encouragment, since it seems to be an interesting distro, that opens the BSD gates for me (I once tried PC-BSD, but it never wanted to install in my hardware...)

So far, so good, it is only my first day using it...

Anyway, hello from the Dominican Republic !!!

maybe tcshrc from the port should be installed by default.

Two more newbie questions ...

1 Is there a way to make sure that Frenzy first automatically unmounts all the mounted Windows and Linux partitions before shutdown or reboot?

2. How to allow an normal user (ie : not root!) to write to a vfat or ext2 partition?

Thank you.

Hello,

I have a problem with autopsy from the extended cd.
/usr/local/bin/autopsy
Can't locate Main.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/ports/sysutils/autopsy/work/au topsy-2.06/lib/ /usr/ports/sysutils/autopsy/work/autopsy-2.06/ /usr/local/lib/pe rl5/5.8.8/BSDPAN /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/mach /usr/local/lib/perl5/ site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_p erl /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/mach /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8) at /usr/local/bi n/autopsy line 58.

How - in Frenzy - to be able to open gvim or any Xbased application after 'su'? You get always following errormessage : "E233: cannot open display".

There is a lot of correspondance on internet on that topic, but always Linuxrelated. And no clear answer ...

I've used tcshrc before, but these scripts significantly slows shell loading.
So I've reworked them - only most useful parts are taken.

You may run Frenzy-specific command 'all-umount' before reboot
or put it into /etc/rc.shutdown script.

In order to write to FS mouting of filesystem must be performed by normal user. See this document:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/faq/disks.html#USER-FLOPPYMOUNT

autopsy itself is a Perl script, not a binary. But this message is not OK :)
So I'll investigate this problem.

Run "xhost +localhost". After execution of this command Xbased applications,
which are run from different user, will be able to access your X session.

Thank you very much for your answers. Am grateful!

Run "xhost +localhost" : didn't work.

Get following message:
"
# xhost +localhost
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

xhost: unable to open display ":0.0"
"

More ideas?

Regards.

"xhost +localhost" command must be launched by user who started X server, not by root.

Thank you for kind help.

If you allow me ...
1. have installed from ports : "rxvt-unicode", But
"$urxvt
Segmentation fault: 11"
Anything I can do?
2. impossibe to see accented letters (à été ) in my favorite editor gvim. All kind of strange 'signs' appear. Both filencoding and termencoding=utf-8.
3. it seems sorting with LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8 / fr_FR.UTF-8 / C gives the same result : words with accented letters always on the last places. Is this correct? Any suggestions?

Thank you beforehand.
